10 Years of Garden Day: A Decade in Bloom
This year, on Sunday 12 October 2025, Garden Day celebrates its 10th anniversary — a whole decade of flower crowns, garden gatherings and joyful moments shared in green spaces big and small.
What started with a group of passionate gardeners putting down their tools to appreciate the beauty around them has grown into a nationwide movement. Over the years, we’ve seen South Africans celebrate in every way imaginable — from backyard braais and garden teas to picnics in public parks and even balcony plant parties.
Gardens, whether sprawling or pocket-sized, have a way of grounding us, easing stress and reminding us to savour life’s simple joys. Along the way, Garden Day has sparked a new generation of “plant parents,” with millennials and Gen Z discovering the peace and pride that comes with nurturing green life.
